Too many VMs using a datastore

What is the maximum number of VMs that should be using a single datastore?  The answer varies depending on a lot of factors like the type of datastore and the IOPS (Input Output Per Second) of the VMs.  The best indicator that a datastore is overloaded is a rise in the  read/write latency on that datastore.  SolarWinds Virtualization Manager  (Hyper9) ships with a Storage Dashboard which shows administrators a  ranked list of datastores with the highest latency to help identify  overloaded datastores.

Multiple SolarWinds Virtualization Manager (Hyper9) customers requested an informational alert to see datastores that are potentially overloaded with too many VMs.  You can find that alert Alert to show Datastores that are potentially overloaded with VMs.  Just Alert to show Datastores that are potentially overloaded with VMs and import it into Virtualization Manager (Hyper9).  This alert could give you some additional information to determine why latency is high  and it is also useful to help balance VMs across datastores.
